GA – Atlanta

In early 2016 Kelly Lyn and Chuck Cogliandro were seeking new communities that were committed to healing from the effects of racism and the legacies of slavery in the U.S, both in order to learn and to offer the ancestral healing in which they are trained.  An email from Beacon Press, publisher of Sharon Morgan and Tom DeWolf’s book, Gather At the Table, included an interview with Sharon and her mentioning the organization Coming to the Table.  After email exchanges with Sharon and learning that CTTT’s bi-annual national conference was starting in two weeks, Kelly and Chuck decided to attend, as it was on the way to their summer vacation driving to Maine and Newfoundland to visit friends.

After returning to Atlanta Kelly and Chuck realized they had talked about the power of the community and the conference throughout their trip, and they wanted to establish a local CTTT group in Atlanta.  It took a few months to find two African-American friends who were excited to co-facilitate and willing to make a commitment, as well as find an appropriate place to meet, all of which was divinely guided.  With Wilma Pollard and Natalie Wiley joining as co-facilitators, and the historic Atlanta Baha’I Center agreeing to rent us space, we held our first gathering of about twenty people in December, 2016.

As of March 2020, CTTT Atlanta is meeting online via Zoom link.  Our current leadership team includes Rosalyn Clark, Cathy Tyler, Kelly and Chuck.  Monthly gatherings, typically on second Mondays each month, now include an opening ritual; community building time; business items and review of CTTT principles; work in subcommittees in the areas of Justice System & Voting rights, Education & Employment, Housing & Transportation, and Health & Wellness; and time in race affinity groups to honor the different ways different people need to heal.

You can join our Facebook Group at “Coming to the Table- Atlanta” for dates of our monthly meetings, and announcements of other events.
