Join us for a special Slave Cemetery Cleanup Day at Button Farm Living History Center
Registration is required (CLICK HERE)
Help us to clean-up the Button Farm Cemetery. The site features field stone markers believed to mark a burial ground for enslaved people. Join our partners at Button Farm and learn about African American burial practices and our plan to preserve and commemorate the site. Tasks include clearing brush, branches and invasive weeds, and establishing a protective perimeter.
We will include a circle ceremony so we can join together to honor the ancestors.
Participants should wear sturdy work shoes and clothes, bring water, a hat/sun protection and bug spray. Gloves and tools will be provided. To attend please register HERE, and we’ll see you on May 11!
