The first meeting of the Mid-Atlantic regional group took place in September 2010 at the Richmond, VA offices of Hope in the Cities. Although most of the eight people present were from Virginia, two came from Washington DC and one came from Maryland. The agenda of that first day-long meeting included sharing stories and beginning to brainstorm a vision for the Mid-Atlantic group, including what programs or projects the group might undertake to address these issues, setting of the next meeting date and developing a contact list.
This is a regional group, with a catchment area of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, DC, Maryland, and Delaware. Because people come from sometimes great distances to participate, the Mid-Atlantic group meets less often, but for a day and a half, including an overnight stay – usually in Richmond, Virginia.
The CTTT Mid-Atlantic Regional group offers a regional listserv. By way of BCC to protect from spammers, it periodically and typically relays information from CTTT partners, groups, individuals and like-minded organizations, about events, programs / projects, topics, etc., relevant to the history, legacies and aftermaths of historic African descendant enslavement in the USA. Nearly all the events, programs / projects that are referenced occur within the Mid-Atlantic region.
Future meetings, once scheduled, can be seen at the bottom of this page.
