From May 6-16, 40 college students are joining original Freedom Riders in retracing the 1961 Rides from Washington, DC to New Orleans, LA. One of the students, Sarah Cheshire, is the niece of CTTT Community member Godfrey Cheshire. Out of hundreds of college students who submitted essays, Sarah, whose essay dealt with her family’s history as slave holders, was one of the 40 chosen to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides.
