Memorial Day Weekend Co-Sponsored Event: Washington, DC

May 27 @ 9:45 am - 2:00 pm

The Shenandoah Valley Chapter of Coming to the Table is co-sponsor, with the Corhaven Graveyard Book Club:

WALK THE D.C. KIDNAPPING ROUTE of Solomon Northup, a free African American kidnapped into twelve years of slavery before the American Civil War.

Join the Corhaven Graveyard Book Club on Saturday, May 27th, at 9:45 a.m. as they gather outside the Newseum in Washington, DC. Along the route, you’ll hear excerpts from Twelve Years a Slave, and end the experience by visiting the U Street African American Civil War Memorial, eating lunch at Ben’s Chili Bowl, and touring the “1967: Civil Rights at 50” exhibit at the Newseum. Any costs accrued are your own.

RSVP by May 20

For more information, to take advantage of the Newseum group rate, or RSVP by MAY 20th to Sarah Kohrs, Director of Corhaven Graveyard (senkohrs at gmail dot com or 434.922.2029).

The only costs are for parking/metro, lunch, and a ticket into the Newseum – if you want to do that. Group tickets for the Newseum are $7 cheaper than the normal rate ($18 adults / $12 children 7-18 / free 6 & under). Carpooling is available from the Front Royal area – just let Sarah Korhrs (senkohrs at gmail dot com) know of your interest.
