The Coming to the Table Washington DC Group will be taking the Freedom’s Fight in Alexandria Walking Tour presented by Manumission Tour Company (a black-owned business) and meeting for lunch afterwards. The tour begins at the Kate Waller Barrett Library in Alexandria. This 75-minute guided walking tour, which costs $15 for adults and $10 for children (12 & under), will give participants insight into Alexandria’s pre-Civil War history of urban slavery, and highlight runaway slaves, like Oscar and George Ball, and abolitionists, such as pharmacist Edward Stabler, who fought back against the “Peculiar Institution” of slavery within Alexandria.
